Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers at Pelham Town Hall

With $72,693 in funding support from Aviva Canada, the Town of Pelham will install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to support six vehicles at the municipal lot at Pelham Town Hall. The investment from Aviva Canada for this project will assist Pelham in developing the infrastructure needed to support EV use in the community.

EV infrastructure provides support for the continued usage of EV as a step toward reducing the impacts of climate change.

Aviva Canada is taking action on climate change and building stronger, more resilient communities through its Charged for Change initiative in partnership with Earth Day Canada. Through Charged for Change, Aviva Canada will invest $3 million over three years to install EV charging stations in communities across Canada that lack access to EV charging infrastructure.

“We know that access to charging infrastructure is key for Canadians considering transitioning to EVs. We are proud to partner with Earth Day Canada to bring electric vehicle charging stations to these communities through our Charged for Change initiative. And believe that programs like this can help more Canadians across the country make the switch to a low-carbon economy,” says Jason Storah, CEO of Aviva Canada.

“Globally, we are seeing the consequences of climate change and the need to address its effects is now. One of the many ways we can reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions is to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. With the support of Aviva Canada through the Charged for Change program, we were able to make a difference by bringing charging opportunities in communities where they were lacking and help Canadians access infrastructure and take charge for a sustainable future.” said Valérie Mallamo, Earth Day Canada Executive Director.

Earth Day Canada is a charitable organization that helps individuals, municipalities and organizations reduce their impact on the environment. In addition to organizing a large-scale awareness campaign on April 22, Earth Day Canada deploys environmental programs and projects with a proven positive impact in various areas such as waste management, the fight against food waste and sustainable mobility.
